J & E Asphalt & Civil is a multi-disciplined road works contractor that services New South Wales. Founded by Jim and Elizabeth Vella in 1978, the company began with the simple purchase of a second-hand grader. From there, working against the economic struggles of the times, the business slowly grew from grading kerbs for new subdivisions, to grading sports courts, car parks and roads.
By the early 80s, the company evolved from solely undertaking civil works, and branched out into asphalt. A hallmark of J & E as a company has been, and continues to be, its ‘client first’ approach. They pride on meeting the needs of their clients, and doing so both efficiently and cost-effectively.
Their clients’ satisfaction is their preferred measure of success, and they have become renowned for their collaborative approach, taking time to speak with their clients and truly understand what their expectations for the project are. By listening to and acknowledging a client’s requirements, J & E put themselves in the best position to deliver the work within the client’s required parameters.
J & E also pride themselves on upholding the highest standards of quality, safety and environmental management. The reputation that has been built over the company’s four decades of existence is one of working not only efficiently and cost-effectively, but safely. From that first purchase of a second-hand grader, J & E have grown their fleet to over 40 heavy roadwork and civil machines, including profilers, excavators, asphalt pavers, rollers, skid steers and haulage trucks, all backed up by a fully equipped workshop.
From their work with councils, such as being on the panel of preferred contractors for both The Hills and Hornsby councils, to their involvement in large scale projects, such as the M7 motorway, J & E continue to make their mark as an industry leader.
